Frequently asked questions
We hope the information below answers all the questions you have about our service, however don't hesitate to contact us directly if you need anything at all. We'd love to help.
Please note the answers below reflect how the business will operate once it's buddy network is launched.
How do you recruit your local buddies?
We work closely with local charities to identify individuals who live locally and have the skills required to be good hosts. They need to have clean records, be warm and sociable and really know their local city. We then interview them further to make sure they are the right buddies. In addition, they receive customer service training as part of their onboarding process.
How long does each activity last?
Booking times differ, so best to check when booking to see what time slots have been provided.
Can I personalise my booking?
With private bookings you can certainly request any modifications and our buddies will do their best to accommodate you.
How do I make a booking?
All you need to do is visit our booking page when it launches, share your location and dates and find the right activity based on your preference. From there you will be able to book your buddy and complete your payment online through registration.
How do I pay?
Once you have selected your local buddy and social activity, all you'll need to do is follow the instructions to pay for your booking online. We use Stripe which is a a PCI Service Provider Level 1 - the highest grade of payment processing security. You can rest assured that your information is safe and secure.
Should I make payments in cash?
We accept debit/credit card payments for all activities and do not take payments in cash – we advise against cash payments. When you pay online, this allows us to directly pay our charity partners. Making payments in cash outside the platform affects this, and also puts you at risk of not receiving your service. If a buddy asks you to pay in cash, kindly decline and let us know.
What does my booking fee cover?
Your fee covers the buddy’s time. For extra expenses such as transportation, entrance fees, food, or any third party services you decide to acquire, these need to be paid by you and are not included in the buddies rate. Feel free to ask the buddy to advice you of any other extra costs you before the trip - they’ll be happy to help.
What if I need to cancel?
If you cancel more than 14 days before the date of your booking you will be refunded 100% of the total price.
If you cancel after 14 days we would not be able to issue a refund as we would have made payments on your behalf.
What if the buddy cancels the booking?
If the buddy cancels rest assured we will find a ew buddy for you. If we are unable to do that on time, 100% of your booking will be refunded to you.
What happens if my reservation request is declined?
If your booking request is declined your fee will be refunded and you’re more than welcome to see what else is available on your preferred dates and times.
What if I’m making the booking on behalf of a family/group?
The buddy needs to know how many people will attend each booking in advance so they can make the necessary preparations, so please let them know as early as you can. There might also be a surcharge for bringing additional people along, so make sure you pay the right amount when booking. If the buddy is not paid for the right number of people they have the right to cancel the booking on the day, and you will not be refunded.
What if I am running late?
We would appreciate it if you could do the best you can to avoid being late. However we would do the best to help you not miss out. For group tours the local buddy will wait 15 minutes before leaving with the group. For private bookings your buddy will wait for half the time of the activity. However please bear in mind that the activity will still end at the scheduled time, to prevent the buddy from being late for other appointments.
Where do I meet my local buddy?
For private bookings let the buddy know where you're staying so they can suggest somewhere convenient to meet. For group activities the buddy will recommend somewhere that’s central and easily accessible to meet.
What about insurance?
We are a booking platform only, so we do not provide insurance cover. As is good practice with every trip overseas, we recommend that you take holiday insurance to cover your trip.

Hints and Tips
Here is some helpful advice to help you make the most of your booking
Book as early as you can
Booking in advance ensures that you book that special activity you want, so you're guaranteed a perfect trip. Furthermore booking early also helps you pack the right equipment/gear for your trip. Most importantly, it gives you peace of mind knowing that your itinerary is all sorted out - allowing you to focus on other things.
Get to know your local buddy
Check out your buddy’s profile to know them better. Once you’ve made the booking keep the conversation going, ask them questions and share your reasons for travelling and interests. Information like this will help your buddy come up with suggestions on how to deliver your ideal experience.
Be prepared
Be prepared for the activity you’ve booked for. For example if you booked hiking, bring hiking gear and a water bottle, if you’re joining your local buddy for a game bring along football boots. Feel free to ask the buddy for advice on what to bring.
Don’t be late
Being late is isn’t the best way to make a great impression. Also bear in mind that lateness will cut into your time, as your buddy will still have to end the activity at the agreed time to go to their next appointment. To start things on a strong note and really make the most of your booking, please aim to be there 10 minutes in advance. Feel free to ask the buddy for advice on how best to get to the meeting spot.
Meeting up on a private booking
Try to agree on somewhere very specific to meet. Also make it easy for the buddy to find you – for example let each other know what you’ll both be wearing, so it's easier to recognise each other.
Have spare cash
Your booking only covers your buddy’s time so please bring extra cash for any other expenses. Feel free to ask your buddy to recommend a budget.
